Prof. Michael Stumvoll, scientific director of the IFB, director of the clinic and policlinic for endocrinology and nephrology and declared expert for metabolic disorders will chair the conference "Adipositas, Diabetes und Krebsrisiko. Kausale Beziehung oder nur Assoziation?". Prof. Matthias Blüher, IFB Outpatient clinic and expert for molecular pathology of metabolic disorders will be represented with six different lectures about: "Genetics and Obesity", "Influence of exercise in Diabetes TYPE II Diseases", "Metabolic effects of bariatric surgery" and also "Recommendations for nutrition interventions". Prof. Wieland Kiess, member of the IFB Board of Directors and director of the University clinic for children and adolescents will chair the conference "Adipositas im Kindes- und Jugendalter" and as well present his research results of genetic factors of Obesity. Prof. Antje Körner, Dr. Nora Klöting, Dr. Mathias Faßhauer und Dr. Arne Dietrich will present their research results and Prof. Daniel Teupser will lecture about the negative influence of phytosterols which is often added to so-called "functional food".
The joint convention of DAG and DDG is trend-setting for the research area Obesity and Diabetes. This year the topics of the convention are interdisciplinary like Diabetes and Fat metabolism disorder, prevention and the metabolic syndrome.
